Stealth Set For Two Clinics October 18
The Washington Stealth are
bringing two players to town from October 16-18 to take part in some local
appearances with the community.
The weekend culminates with a pair of youth lacrosse clinics in Everett
and Tacoma on October 18.
Second-year defenseman Kyle Hartzell and rookie defenseman Chris O’Dougherty
will be making appearances and running the clinics with possible guest
appearances from other Stealth stars. They will be at the Breakaway Lacrosse
store in Bellevue from 10am-5pm on October 17 and will be available to sign
autographs and talk lacrosse with local youth clubs and store customers. Breakaway Lacrosse in Bellevue is
located at 10830 NE 2nd Pl., Bellevue, WA 98004.
The highlight of the weekend however, will be the pair of clinics on October
18. Hartzell and O’Dougherty will
provide instruction at the North Sound Youth Clinic from 10am-12pm at Hawthorne
Elementary School in North Everett.
The event is presented by the Stealth in conjunction with
WALAX.com. Youth grades 3-8 will
have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the game, including
techniques and drills to improve their game in the offseason. The clinic is free and open to the
public.
Following the North Sound Youth Clinic, Hartzell and O’Dougherty will travel
south to Tacoma, to hold a clinic with the Tacoma Youth Lacrosse
Association. The clinic will take
place at Cirque Park in University Place from 2pm-4pm. Once again, the Stealth will bring
professional instruction with active participation from those in attendance. The clinic will cover everything from
passing and shooting to ground ball and defensive techniques.
Hartzell is entering his second season with the Stealth. He has played for two
seasons in the MLL (Major League Lacrosse), as a rookie for the San Francisco
Dragons and this past summer for the Washington Bayhawks. A 2007 graduate of Salisbury
State University, he was a standout defenseman for the Seagulls, earning
third-team All-American and first-team All-League honors. He was selected as the team’s Most Valuable
Defenseman as a senior and won two NCAA Division III National Championships at
Salisbury.
O’Dougherty was a sixth round selection by the Stealth in last month’s NLL
Entry Draft. He recently completed
his first season in the MLL, where he was the 31st overall selection
by the Denver Outlaws. He graduated from Rutgers University in 2009 and was a
four-year starter for the Scarlet Knights. He was selected to the All-East Coast Athletic Conference
(ECAC) team three times and named the William Miller Trophy winner as the
team’s Most Valuable Player after his junior season. Served as a team captain as a sophomore, junior and senior
and participated in the USILA North – South senior all-star game in 2009.
The Stealth will begin their first season at the Comcast Arena at Everett on January 9, 2010. Season tickets are available now and start at just $75 for eight games.
