Bloom and Koesterer Signed for 2010
The Washington Stealth
recently announced the signings of two key offseason acquisitions in Jason
Bloom and Jamison Koesterer. The
pair was picked up in trades this offseason with hopes of bolstering the
Stealth transition game.
The Stealth picked up Bloom in a trade with the Boston Blazers. He enjoyed a career season with Boston
in 2009, playing all 16 games and amassing career-highs in goals (13), assists
(10), points (23) and loose balls (60).
Prior to his stint in Boston, the 6-foot, 205-pound transition player
spent two seasons playing with the Colorado Mammoth.
Bloom graduated from Ohio State University in 2005, where he was a two-time
team captain and helped lead the Buckeyes to a conference title and the
school’s first NCAA Division I tournament berth. Bloom currently resides in Mercer Island, Wash., and is an
assistant coach for Washington State DII Champion, The Overlake School.
Koesterer was a first round selection in the Portland dispersal draft by the
Buffalo Bandits, who then traded him to the Stealth this offseason. In Koesterer’s rookie season with
Portland, he appeared in eight games and recorded two assists and 38 loose
balls. He emerged as the team’s
top face-off man late in the season, winning over 55% of his draws.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Koesterer graduated from Johns Hopkins University in
2007, where he won two NCAA Division I National Championships with Stealth
teammate Paul Rabil. Koesterer is
deeply entrenched in the Washington lacrosse scene as the Director of
Operations for Walax. He currently
lives in Seattle, Wash.
Bloom and Koesterer will be two of 34 players attending the Stealth training camp,
which begins on December 5. The
roster will be cut down to 26, including three practice players, before the
team’s first game on January 9, 2010 at the Comcast Arena at Everett. Ticket packages for the 2010 season are
