"Pink in the Rink Night" March 27

The Washington Stealth will be hosting “Pink in the Rink Night” at the Comcast Arena at Everett when they take on the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, March 27 at 7:30pm.  The Stealth will be wearing special edition pink helmets that will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds going to the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

This season, the NLL launched its “Black Out Breast Cancer” campaign to join the fight and increase awareness. Each of the league’s 11 teams will host a specially-themed “Black Out Breast Cancer Night” during a home game that takes place between March 26 and April 3.

“The National Lacrosse League is proud to join the fight against breast cancer,” said NLL Commissioner George Daniel. “Our fans are very passionate about lacrosse, and we know they will rally behind this cause as well.”

The Stealth has held several events to benefit non-profit organizations this season, including the Puget Sound Blood Center and Northwest Harvest.  The “Pink in the Rink Night” benefit for Susan G. Komen is one that holds a particularly special place in the heart of Stealth owner Denise Watkins.

“Both my mother and sister are breast cancer survivors,” said Watkins, who has participated in Susan G. Komen events in the past. “In the Fall of 2008, my three sisters and I walked in the Three-Day Walk for the Cure, organized by Susan G Komen, in San Diego. It was an incredible experience for a great cause managed by a wonderful organization.  The Stealth organization is very proud to be helping such a worthy cause, and we hope the Stealth fans will show their support as well.”

“Because Washington has one of the highest incidence rates of breast cancer in the country, we are especially pleased to have a local partner like the Washington Stealth to help us make a vital impact on our region,” said Cheryl Shaw, Executive Director, Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Throughout the game, fans can bid on their favorite Stealth player’s pink helmet and be presented with it following the game.  Along with the helmets, there will be other Stealth merchandise and merchandise from Stealth sponsors for sale with proceeds benefitting Susan G. Komen.
