San Jose Stealth forward Rhys Duch was named the National Lacrosse League’s Rookie of the Week for his performance against the Colorado Mammoth April 11. It is the third consecutive week Duch has earned the award.
Duch scored five goals and assisted on three others in the Stealth’s 11-10 overtime victory in Denver, Colo. His fifth goal of the game came over seven minutes into overtime to clinch the win and the third straight playoff appearance for the Stealth.
Duch is the second leading scorer for the Stealth with 34 goals, 52 assists and 86 points. His 86 points set a new NLL rookie scoring record, breaking the previous mark of 82 set by Gavin Prout in 2002. He is the NLL’s top scoring rookie this season and currently sits at sixth in the league. Duch won the NLL Rookie of the Month Award for the month of March.
Duch and the Stealth have one more regular season game before heading into the playoffs. They travel to Toronto to face the Rock on April 18 at 4:00pm PT. In the first round of the playoffs, the third-seeded Stealth take on the two-seed, Portland Lumberjax the first weekend of May. All the action can be seen live on the NLL Network at NLL.com.
