The Vancouver Stealth (1-3) take on the Colorado Mammoth (4-1) at the Langley Events Centre for a second time in a span of two weeks. The Stealth will look to make amends for a 14-5 loss in a game that saw them trail the Mammoth 12-3 at half-time.
Both teams enter week #6 coming off a loss. The Stealth fell to the Calgary Roughnecks 15-13 at the Scotiabank Saddledome, while the Mammoth suffered their first defeat of the season to the Saskatchewan Rush 12-10. Logan Schuss had his best offensive output last Saturday in Calgary with a nine-point effort (5 goals, 4 assists), while Rhys Duch (3 goals, 5 assists) and Garrett Billings (2 goals, 5 assists) chipped in with their highest point totals on the year.
The Mammoth bring the highest scoring offense to the LEC, as they have recorded 71 goals in five games. They currently have three of the league’s top five scorers on their roster in Adam Jones, John Grant Jr, and Callum Crawford. Those three were dangerous in the last meeting combining for 11 goals and 20 points. Their goaltender Dillon Ward was solid in that game as well stopping 50 of 55 shots and enters this evening tied for first in wins (3) and is second in save percentage (.786) in the National Lacrosse League.
The Stealth will be looking for a much better effort this time around against the Mammoth and know they can’t make the same mistakes.
“We have to take away time and space as we gave their forwards too many open looks at our goaltender and made us pay. They are a very well balanced team and we have to be ready to battle right from the opening face-off,” said Stealth Head Coach Dan Perreault.
Game-time is scheduled for 7:00pm PST from the Langley Events Centre. It is ‘Kids run the show’ night, with many special activities planned for kids in attendance. For tickets, please call 604.882.8800 or visit www.ticketmaster.ca.
