The Vancouver Stealth announced today that they have signed Ian Hawksbee to a one-year deal pending league approval.
The 6’0 defenseman from Niagara on the Lake most recently had signed with the Vancouver organization in the summer of 2015. Last season he recorded 1 goal and 6 assists for 7 points and led the team with 119 loose balls.
“I am happy to be back with the Stealth, it means a lot for me to play in the city I live and work in. We have a good core of returning players that really started to gel and play good lacrosse towards the end of the season,” Hawksbee said. “I expect it to be a very competitive camp and look forward to rising up to the challenge.”
Over the course of his National Lacrosse League (NLL) career he has appeared in 132 games scoring 13 goals and 53 assists for 66 points. But President and General Manager of the Vancouver Stealth Doug Locker believes that Hawksbee brings much more to the team than just goals and assists.
“You can’t put into words how important guys like Ian are to a team, as they provide veteran leadership and experience that we all seek,” said Locker. “He is a natural leader and we are counting on him off and on the floor and we are so happy to have him back in Vancouver.”
