NLL Awards: Corey Small - MVP

In 2017, Corey Small did what only two other people in Stealth history have done before, score 111 points.

With that feat he tied Colin Doyle and teammate Rhys Duch for the single season point total in Stealth franchise history.

For his part, Number 15 was recognized by the National Lacrosse League as a nominee for the Most Valuable Player.

“I’m so honoured to be nominated for MVP. To me this is a team nomination because my individual success this season is a result of the whole group working together,” said Corey Small. “Everyone has a specific role on our team and everyone of us are vauable to the team in our own unique way. Congratulation to Lyle (Thompson) for being named the MVP and Mark (Matthews) for his nomination.”

Small scored a career high in goals (46), assists (65) and points (111).

“Corey Small took his game to another level this past season,” said Stealth play-by-play announcer Jake Elliott. “He is now in the conversation as one of the best lefties in the game. I think he is far and away the most accurate shooter in the National Lacrosse League.”

Small has continued his success from the 2017 NLL season into the Western Lacrosse Association’s 2017 season. In 10 games of summer action Small leads the league in goals (23), assists (33), points (56), and shots (116).
