Stealth Announce 2017 Captains

HeaderVancouver, BC (Monday, January 2, 2016) – The Vancouver Stealth announced today that Curtis Hodgson, Rhys Duch and Logan Schuss will serve as the 2017 Captains.

Hodgson will dawn the familiar ‘C’ and is the longest serving member of the Stealth organization. He is entering his 13th season and his third as Captain. He is the franchise leader with 197 games played and third all-time with 684 looseballs.

Joining Hodgson as Assistant Captains are Rhys Duch and Logan Schuss.

“I think it is no secret that Rhys is one of the best players in the National Lacrosse League, and he has done a fantastic job leading by example. It’s contagious with everyone and sets the bar very high,” said Captain Curtis Hodgson. “Logan is an old-school guy at heart when it comes to work ethic and he brings positive energy to our locker room.”

Duch will wear the ‘A’ for the fifth straight year and as such is no stranger to being a leader. He is entering his ninth season with the organization after being drafted third overall in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. Duch currently is the franchise’s leader in goals (313), assists (421) and points (734).

Schuss will serve as Assistant Captain for the first time in 2017. The Ladner-native is coming off a season in which he was third on the team in goals and second on the team in assists and points behind Duch. Schuss was acquired during the 2015 season in a trade with the Swarm who made him the 1st overall selection in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft. He was named the NLL Rookie of the Year in 2014.

“I challenged the team to be in the best shape possible, when I saw Curtis on the first day of camp I knew who our captain was,” said Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Jamie Batley. “Both Logan and Rhys have done an outstanding job of leading by example and setting a high bar for our guys to aspire to. I’m looking forward to working with these guys during the coming season.”

The Vancouver Stealth open their regular season this Friday in Calgary and Saturday in Colorado. Their Home Opener will take place on January 14, 2017 against the Calgary Roughnecks at the Langley Events Centre. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office.
