The Vancouver Stealth have drafted four players in the 2016 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft including James Rahe from Langley, BC.
The Stealth used their first pick to draft James Rahe of the Langley Thunder 11th overall. Rahe played his Junior A career with the Langley Thunder and the Coquitlam Adanacs of the BCJALL where he appeared in 78 games scoring 118 goals and 131 assists for 249 points. In 2015, he played 19 playoff games with the Six Nation Arrows where he scored 15 goals and 38 assists for 53 points and went on to win the Minto Cup.
Rahe is very familiar with the Vancouver Stealth and the Langley Events Centre after playing eight seasons in Langley. “I couldn’t be happier to be staying at home, this community raised me and I can’t wait to play in front of them at the Langley Events Centre,” said Rahe. “The Stealth have some world class players and I am excited to learn from them.”
With their second pick the Stealth took Adam Jay at 32nd overall. Jay has played the majority of his Junior A career with the Victoria Shamrocks but most recently finished the season off with the BCJALL champions Delta Islanders. In four seasons, Jay played 82 games scoring 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points.
The Stealth used their 41st overall pick on Cody Teichroeb. The Langley Thunder alum has appeared in 67 regular season and playoff games scoring 17 goals and 44 assists for 61 points.
With the final pick of their night the Vancouver Stealth drafted Danton Miller at 49th. The left-handed forward has spent his entire career with Six Nations playing in 12 games in Junior A and scoring 8 goals and 16 assists for 24 points. In 119 regular season and playoff games in Junior B, Miller scored 133 goals and 238 assists for 371 points.
Coach Jamie Batley was happy with how the 2016 Draft rolled out, “we are excited that we were able to draft some local players. To get a kid like James Rahe in the spot we did, we were very lucky. James is a big, strong, athletic player who we can use in a variety of roles for our club. We got three local guys and a strong lefty from Six Nations, so I think everyone is happy with our picks. We are going to be in a great position heading into training camp.”
