Vancouver, BC (Monday, July 20, 2015) – The Vancouver Stealth have announced that they have re-signed defenseman Chris O’Dougherty to a one-year contract, pending league approval.
The Kinnelon, New Jersey native played in 14 games with the Stealth last season, collecting 44 loose balls, causing 13 turnovers while scoring 8 points.
“There are few players more committed to excel than Chris, and he is developing into one of the steadiest defenders in the NLL,” said Stealth President and General Manager Doug Locker. “He is a very important piece of our defense and I’m looking forward to having him back with our organization this coming season.”
“I am extremely excited to continue my playing career in Vancouver,” said O’Dougherty. “I have been with the organization since coming into the league and I am more motivated than ever to bring back a championship to this franchise.”
O’Dougherty, 28, has spent his entire career with the Stealth franchise. He was selected in the sixth round (58 th overall) of the 2010 NLL Entry Draft. In six seasons, he’s collected 178 loose balls while tallying 88 penalty minutes. The defenseman has played in six playoff games with the Stealth, and was a part of the 2010 Champions Cup winning team.
Outside of the NLL, O’Dougherty is the co-founder of CitySideLax – a lacrosse development organization in Seattle aimed at growing the game of lacrosse in the Pacific North West while providing high quality coaching. CitySideLax recently partnered with the Stealth Lacrosse Academy to advance skills and lacrosse IQ, and increase the number and quality of competitive events for rising players.
