Stealth Set to Renew Rivalry with the Rock

(Vancouver, BC – Friday, January 31, 2014) – The Vancouver Stealth (2-3) will be looking to get back on track when they visit the Air Canada Centre, for a battle with the Toronto Rock (1-2) on Friday January 31, 2014. This will be the first meeting between these two teams since April 20, 2012. The game can also be seen on TSN2 at 4:30PM PST.

It’s been even longer since the Stealth visited ACC but their last trip resulted in a 14-9 victory back on March 3, 2012,

“We always look forward to playing in Toronto,” said Stealth head coach, Chris Hall.

“It’s a great city and a great venue. Toronto also has a huge legacy in lacrosse in this country and in the NLL, so it’s always a special place to play.”

Both the Stealth and the Rock are coming off losses in their previous games so both teams will be hungry for a win,

“We want to try and steal a win over there,” said Stealth player, Chris O’Dougherty.

“It’s a tough road trip for us but we always want to meet the challenge, especially to rebound from last week.”

The Stealth came storming out of the gates against the Edmonton Rush last weekend going up 7-2 at half-time but their offense went cold, scoring just one goal in the next two quarters. Even with their struggles offensively their goaltender, Tyler Richards, continues to frustrate teams as he stopped 49 of 58 shots in a 9-8 loss. Richards also made a highlight reel save at the end of the first half that is sure to be an early favourite for save of the year.

The Rock are coming off back-to-back losses to both the Buffalo Bandits and the Rochester Knighthawks. The Rock also play four of their next five games at home so they will be looking to try and build some momentum on their home turf.

The Stealth are 3-6 all-time against the Toronto Rock and are 2-4 on the road as they will look to improve that record but more importantly get back to .500 on the season.

The Stealth and the Rock will take to the turf at 4:30PM PST and the game can be seen on TSN2 in Canada, ESPN3 in the U.S. and YouTube via The Lacrosse Network outside North America.
