Forward Jeff Zywicki, who ranks among the Stealth's All-Time leaders in all three major offensive categories, re-signed through the 2013 season.

Jeff Zywicki signed a two-year contract with the Stealth today.

The Washington Stealth announced today the team has agreed to a two-year contract with forward Jeff Zywicki, pending approval by the National Lacrosse League. Zywicki is entering his seventh NLL season, all of which he has played for the Stealth.

Zywicki, 30, was originally drafted by the Stealth in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. Since that time, he has become one of the most prolific scorers in Stealth history. The Nepean, Ontario native ranks in the top five on the Stealth All-Time list in the three major offensive categories.  Zywicki ranks second in Stealth history with 181 goals, fifth with 184 assists and third with 365 points. He is also ranked in the top ten in loose balls (419) and games played (78). In four of his six pro seasons, Zywicki has eclipsed the 70-point mark, including a 90-point season that led to an NLL All-Pro nod in 2008.

“Jeff was a big part of our championship run in 2010 and a major reason why our offense is so good,” said Stealth Head Coach Chris Hall. “He’s back healthy this season and I think we can expect to see the Jeff Zywicki we’ve come to know as one of the best goal scorers in this league.”

Last season, Zywicki missed 13 regular season games after suffering an injury in the season opener. He returned to the lineup for the final two games of the regular season and the postseason. In three postseason games, Zywicki returned to his usual form, tallying six goals and six assists as the Stealth made its second consecutive trip to the NLL Championship Game. The 5’9”, 190-pound righty was instrumental in the Stealth’s run to the NLL title in 2010, posting 71 points (30g, 41a) during the regular season and added 13 points (9g, 4a) in the postseason.

“I’m looking forward to getting the Stealth season going,” said Zywicki. “Especially with the way last season ended, just one goal away from the championship, we are going to come back hungry this season with our only goal reclaiming the title.”

The Stealth opens training camp for the 2012 season this weekend in Langley, British Columbia, and will face the Toronto Rock in an exhibition game. The Stealth and Rock have met in each of the last two NLL Championship Games, each winning once.

The 2012 regular season opens on January 14, when the Stealth hosts the Calgary Roughnecks at the Comcast Arena at Everett in a rematch of last season’s Western Division Final. Season and single game tickets for the 2012 season are on sale now. For more information, call 877-MY-75-TIX or log on to www.stealthlax.com.
