Martin Cummings spent most of 2011 on the Stealth practice roster, appearing in one game and recording his first career NLL goal.
The Washington Stealth announced today the three players that will make up its practice roster for the 2012 season. Forward Martin Cummings will spend his second season on the Stealth practice squad, while members of the Stealth’s 2011 draft class, forward Mike Mallory and defenseman Justin Salt, occupy the remaining two spots.
Cummings spent last season on the Stealth’s practice roster and appeared in one game and scored his first NLL goal versus the Edmonton Rush. The Port Coquitlam, B.C. native plays his summer lacrosse in New Westminster, where he recorded a career-high 28 points (14g, 14a) in 15 games in 2011. Cummings has played three WLA seasons with the Salmonbellies, tallying 76 points (39g, 37a) in 43 regular season games with a .262 shooting percentage.
Mallory, 20, was drafted by the Stealth in the third round (21st overall) of the draft. Mallory is a right-handed forward that provided a great deal of offensive production during his Junior ‘A’ lacrosse career with the Delta Islanders. In two seasons of full time work for the Islanders, the 6’2”, 190-pound forward tallied 206 points (93g, 113a) in 49 games played. He is a two-time, first-team BCLA All-Star (2010, 2011) and was named the BCLA Rookie of the Year in 2010.
Salt was a sixth round selection (52nd overall) in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. The left-handed defenseman has played three seasons with the Salmonbellies Junior ‘A’ squad and in 2011 showed his knack for scoring with 48 points (15g, 33a) in 27 games.
The Stealth will hold its final training camp session on December 30 and 31 at the Comcast Arena at Everett as it prepares to win its second NLL title in three seasons.
The 2012 regular season begins on January 14, when the Stealth plays host to the Calgary Roughnecks in a rematch of the 2011 NLL Western Division Final. Tickets for the entire 2012 season are on sale now and available by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
