Stealth Can't Overcome Slow Start vs. Swarm

By Washington Stealth
It was a quick turnaround for the San Jose Stealth, who played their season opener one night ago before traveling to St. Paul, Minn., to face West Division foe Minnesota Swarm for a 7:00pm (CST). An early first half deficit proved too much to overcome, as the Stealth remains winless after a 10-7 defeat at the hands of the Swarm. The Swarm scored the first six goals of the game and held the Stealth scoreless over 22 minutes into the action. In their last game against the Calgary Roughnecks, San Jose found themselves five goals back; also ending in a loss. The Stealth made a move in the second half, scoring the first four goals of the half to cut the Swarm lead to 9-7. That was as close as they would come, and a late third quarter goal from Minnesota’s Dan Marohl capped the scoring at 10-7. Neither team was able to find the net in a defensive-minded fourth quarter. Leading the way for the Stealth was Colin Doyle with a pair of goals and three assists. Rhys Duch scored two goals and assisted on two others. Jeff Zywicki finished with a goal and three assists. Aaron Bold made 17 saves in 20 minutes of action and Matt Roik came off the bench to make 12 saves. The Stealth look for their first win of the season next week, when legendary Gary Gait and the Rochester Knighthawks visit the HP Pavilion on January 18.
