The San Jose Stealth added some depth to their transition game with the signing of second-year player Jim Borell February 25. Borell began the season with the Philadelphia Wings, where he appeared in just one game.
The Wings signed Borell as a free agent prior to the 2008 season. He played in 11 games in 2008, recording two goals, nine assists and 46 loose balls. In his one appearance in 2009, he collected six loose balls. Borell graduated from the University of Maryland in 2007.
Borell takes the roster spot of Stealth defenseman Travis Gillespie, who was placed on the injured reserve after sustaining an injury in last week’s 14-9 victory over the Colorado Mammoth. Gillespie is third on the team with 41 loose balls this season and has one goal and seven assists in seven games.
In another roster move, the Stealth have placed defenseman Nick O’Hara on the active roster-evaluation period list from the physically unable to perform list.
The Stealth heads to the East Coast for a pair of games this weekend. They square off with the Boston Blazers on February 28 at the TD Banknorth Garden and the following day travel to Newark, NJ to take on the New York Titans at the Prudential Center. Both games can be seen on the NLL Network at NLL.com.
