What’s up Stealth fans? I know it’s been a while but I’ve been pretty busy the last couple weeks so I’ll fill you in. The day after I got back home I was already hopping a plane from Ottawa through Chicago to Baltimore for an MLL game that night against the Washington Bayhawks. For those of you unfamiliar with East Coast geography, it’s similar to flying from San Jose through Denver to get to San Diego. I love travel. At least I got the airmiles though. We trailed the whole game until the 4th quarter and managed to pull out a 1 goal victory in the Toronto Nationals 1st ever game in the MLL. Not a bad way to start the season! The flight home the next day was a little better as I only had to go through Toronto to get to Ottawa.
After spending a few days relaxing and enjoying a few cold beverages at my cottage it was off to Toronto to play our 1st ever home game for the Nationals. We play at BMO Field where the MLS team Toronto FC plays and it’s a great field. It’s only a couple years old and is really the perfect place to play field lacrosse. The Chicago Machine were in town to play us which means I got to see a couple of my old UMass buddies which is always nice. Even nicer is that we beat them in front of a big crowd at our franchises home opener to move to 2-0.
Next up I leave tomorrow for an even worse trip down to Baltimore then last time to take on the Bayhawks again on Thursday night. I fly in to Toronto tomorrow at 2pm then hang out I’m not even sure where or with who yet until we go to Buffalo that night to stay in a hotel for a very early flight to Baltimore on Thursday morning. I’ll let you all know how that goes next week.
Before I wrap this up I have to comment on the NHL playoffs. I’ve been cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins all playoffs and have been able to catch almost all of their games on TV. They are currently down 2-0 to Detroit in the finals but only because they have had the worst luck I’ve ever seen. All the bounces are going Detroit’s way (anyone who has seen the games will know exactly what I’m talking about) and last game the goal that put Detroit up 2-1 was a direct result of a seriously blown call by the refs. It’s so frustrating watching your team outplay the opponent only to lose in the end, especially twice in a row! Game 3 goes tonight back in Pittsburgh where hopefully we’ll get some luck on our side and pull the series back to 2-1. If not, it’ll take a miracle to come from 3-0 down.
