The Washington Stealth held a free lacrosse clinic with the
Mukilteo Lacrosse Club in Everett on Tuesday. Over 50 youth lacrosse players from all over the Puget Sound
were on hand to learn from Stealth All-Star defenseman Eric Martin.
Aside from the many members of the Mukilteo club on hand, a number of players
came from the South Sound and even as far north as Arlington, Wash. Even a pair of youngsters from Austin,
Texas, who were visiting relatives in the area made their way to Everett after
finding out about the clinic on the Stealth’s Facebook page.
Those expecting to just sit and listen to lacrosse tips from Martin for an hour
and a half were sorely mistaken; Martin had the young athletes in full pads
running drills for the duration of the clinic. With his whistle in hand, Martin introduced new drills and techniques
to the group. They worked on
conditioning, passing, catching, shooting and even got into situational drills.
Overall it was a wildly successful event, as each player left with new drills
to take back to their coaches and an autographed Eric Martin player card. Martin ended his brief stay in
Washington and headed back to his home in San Francisco, Calif., but will
without a doubt be back in the Great Northwest to provide more world-class
instruction in the near future.
