What’s up Washington Stealth Nation! I was recently in your great state promoting the Stealth and checking out my team’s new digs. I woke up early last Tuesday morning and headed up from foggy, dreary San Francisco to sunny and hot (90 degrees!) Seattle. Easiest flight ever, by the way – carryon, window seat, 7AM flight, hit the snooze and woke up in WA.
Mr. Stealth Lacrosse himself, Doug Locker, (seriously he’s the assistant GM and Executive VP of WA operations – not to be confused with the U of W QB!) picked me up and we were on our way to U of W to hit the camp circuit. Great middle school age kids, GREAT scenery - right on Lake Washington adjacent to the football stadium. I can’t wait for hard-hitting football season. I have to catch a Seahawks game - I’m predicting a big year for the neon green and blue with #8 Matt Hasselbeck healthy and refocused – dude can make all the throws! After a quick talk and 4 v 3 demo, some autographs and connecting the dots in the lacrosse world Doug and I headed north to Mukilteo for the free Stealth clinic.
We had a nice turnout for the FREE Stealth clinic, 50 kids. Two of whom were brothers from San Antonio, TX of all places! The bros played full contact with nothing but; gloves (which they shared between shifts), lacrosse sticks and matching, retro Oakley shades –priceless/crazy/fearless! Everyone played hard and listened, which is all you can ask for when coaching new athletes. At the end of our 1 ½ hr clinic the kids answered some challenging trivia questions for shirts and ticket prizes – like ‘What’s the capital of Washington?’ J
Comcast Arena in Everett is a great venue for the Stealth. 9,000ish seats, restaurants and bars that overlook the gridiron – there isn’t a bad seat in the house, seriously. Looking forward to our new home and dominating in 2010 – after all we’re the real deal, not a soft expansion team! Pretty cool right WA?
