The Washington Stealth will have a special guest at its
February 19 game against the Calgary Roughnecks at the Comcast Arena. Congressman Jay Inslee, representative
of the First Congressional District of Washington, will be in attendance and
perform the ceremonial ball drop at the start of the game.
Congressman Inslee has represented the First Congressional District of Washington since 1999. This district includes portions of King, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. He’s a member of the House Energy and Commerce; Natural Resources and the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
Congressman Inslee has a number of ties to Washington lacrosse. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Washington, where he played Defense during the inaugural season for the University of Washington Lacrosse Team in 1971. He also has three sons - Jack, Connor and Joe - who all live in Washington State. Both Connor and Joe played lacrosse for Bainbridge High School.
It will be a busy night at the Comcast Arena, as the Stealth will also be holding a food drive and fundraiser for Northwest Harvest, as well as its fourth and final “Bailout Friday”, where one lucky fan will win up to $2,500.
The Stealth will face the Calgary Roughnecks (3-3) for the second time this season. The Stealth won 16-15 on January 23 in Calgary. The Stealth hold the league’s top record at 6-1 and the teams enter the game as the top two in the West Division. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00pm PST.
