Washington Stealth forward
Rhys Duch earned the Overall Player of the Week by the National Lacrosse League
for his performance last weekend against the Rochester Knighthawks. He was also the Offensive Player of the
Week, as he recorded nine-points in the Stealth’s 14-9 victory.
Duch recorded his first career sock-trick (six goals in one game) and added
three assists last weekend. He
propelled the Stealth to a 6-0 lead with four consecutive goals in the first
quarter. His sixth goal was the
eventual game-winner in the third.
The Victoria, B.C., native shot 55% in the game and was credited with
two goals and three assists on the power play.
Duch, the 2009 Rookie of the Year, has seen no signs of a sophomore slump this
season. He was seventh in the NLL
and second on the Stealth with 86 points during the regular season. His 53 assists also rank seventh in the
league and he sits in 12th with 33 goals. He leads the league with 26 power play assists.
Duch has been a major reason why the Stealth has clinched the top overall seed
in the 2010 NLL playoffs. The
postseason begins this weekend when the top seeded Stealth take on the West
Division four-seed Minnesota Swarm at the Comcast Arena on May 1. The game is scheduled to begin at
7:30pm. Tickets start at just $13
and are available at the Comcast Arena Box Office, by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or
