David Takata, President of the Washington Stealth, has been named the National Lacrosse League Executive of the Year, the league announced today.  Since relocating to Washington State, the Stealth have developed a new fan base and raised the profile of the sport in the greater Seattle region. The Stealth franchise won the Western Division during the regular season, captured the Western Divisional Championship by defeating the Edmonton Rush and is hosting the Championship Game on May 15.  Takata is also Chairman of the league's Corporate Governance Committee.

“Dave has been a great leader on the NLL Board of Governors and has executed a monumental undertaking in relocating an NLL franchise”, said NLL Commissioner George Daniel. “Under his leadership, the Stealth are quickly becoming a must-see in the Pacific Northwest sports scene, as evidence by last week's thrilling overtime Western Divisional Final and hosting this week's Championship Game”.

“I’m stunned.  I appreciate my colleagues voting for me,” said Takata.  “The game is growing here in Washington, I think it’s a real stable fan base.  The fans are starting to understand the game and are starting to bond with the players.  They have their local heroes and local favorites.  If we traded the team away tomorrow, we would have a bunch of upset people, which is exactly what you want.”

The Stealth takes on the Toronto Rock in the Champion’s Cup Final on May 15.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm at the Comcast Arena at Everett.  Tickets start at $7 and are available at the Comcast Arena Box Office, by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
