On May 15, 2010 the Washington Stealth earned the first National Lacrosse League title in franchise history. This summer, the Stealth will be bringing their trophy, the Champion’s Cup, out to the fans that supported them on their historic journey. The first six locations of the Stealth’s Champion’s Cup Tour have been announced, as the Cup makes its way to the hometowns of numerous Stealth players in Canada and ventures south to Washington.
The first stop on the Champion’s Cup Tour will take place on June 4 in Victoria, British Columbia. The Western Lacrosse Association’s Victoria Shamrocks and Nanaimo Timbermen will be doing battle at the Bear Mountain Arena in Victoria. The Shamrocks feature Stealth stars Rhys Duch, Rhys Jones and Kory Kowalyk, while the Timbermen roster has Champion’s Cup MVP Lewis Ratcliff, Jamison Koesterer and Chris O’Dougherty. Stealth assistant coach Art Webster is also an assistant with Nanaimo and Head Coach Chris Hall, General Manager Doug Locker and Director of Communications Michael Kennett will also be on hand.
The Stealth players and coaches in attendance will be recognized prior to the game, and the Cup will be available for photos with fans.
On June 6, the Cup will remain on Vancouver Island and head to Nanaimo, B.C., for the Timbermen’s clash with the Maple Ridge Burrards. While the Stealth players on the Nanaimo roster will also be in attendance for this one, Tyler Codron, Joel Dalgarno and Sam Cook will be on the floor as members of the Burrards. The same format will be followed in this appearance, with the players and coaches being recognized prior to the game at Nanaimo Ice Centre.
The final stop north of the border will take place on June 10 at Queens Park Arena in New Westminster, B.C. The New Westminster Salmonbellies will play host to the Burrards in a game that features a slew of Stealth stars. In addition to the Stealth players on Maple Ridge, the Salmonbellies feature Stealth goaltenders Matt Roik and Tyler Richards, Curtis Hodgson, Peter Morgan and Shayne Bennett. Stealth assistant captain Cam Sedgwick, assistant coach Rick Lum and other members of the Stealth will also be in attendance.
The Cup will return to Washington on June 12 at Strawberry Fields in Marysville, Wash. The Cup will be on display with Stealth Captain Jason Bloom and Jamison Koesterer for fan photos from 11am to 2pm. Strawberry Fields is located at 6001 152nd St., Marysville, WA.
The following day, the Cup will head south to the Starfire Sports Complex in Seattle, Wash. Bloom and Koesterer will be with the cup for fan photos from 11am to 2pm. Starfire Sports Complex is located at 14800 Starfire Way, Seattle, WA.
The final stop in the first portion of the Champion’s Cup Tour will take place on June 21 at Breakaway Sports in Bellevue, Wash. Following the Paul Rabil Lacrosse Camp in Mercer Island earlier that day, Rabil and teammates Lewis Ratcliff, Jason Bloom, Jamison Koesterer and Chris O’Dougherty will be with the Cup at Breakaway Sports for autographs and photos. The appearance will take place from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Breakaway Sports is located at 10830 NE 2nd Pl., Bellevue, WA.
