The Washington Stealth announced this week the signing of transition player Kyle Hartzell for the 2011 season.  Hartzell will be entering his third National Lacrosse League season, all with the Stealth.

Hartzell played in nine regular season games during the Stealth’s Championship run a year ago, and was an integral part of the playoff run, appearing in all three postseason games.  The speedy transition player collected 49 loose balls during the regular season and added a goal and an assist.  His rookie season, the 5-foot-10, 205-pound righty grabbed 86 loose balls and recorded nine points (1g, 8a) in 12 games.

Hartzell, who won a NCAA Division III National Championship at Salisbury State University, added his first professional championship with the Stealth last May.  He has an opportunity to add a professional field lacrosse championship to his resume this weekend, as his Chesapeake Bayhawks club advanced to the Major League Lacrosse championship game tomorrow.

"Kyle was an important part of our team last season and provided us with speed, solid defense and the ability to get loose balls,” said Stealth General Manager Doug Locker.  “He is developing into an outstanding NLL player and should compete for a place in our opening day lineup."

The Stealth also announced earlier this week a trade with the Colorado Mammoth.  The Stealth sent Matt Zash, a recent second-round pickup in the dispersal draft of former Orlando Titans players, to the Mammoth in exchange for a third round pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.

The Stealth will look to defend their 2010 NLL crown when the 2011 schedule begins in January.  Training camp for the 2011 season begins this fall.  Season tickets for the Washington Stealth are available now and can be purchased by calling 877-MY-75-TIX or at www.stealthlax.com.
