The National Lacrosse League announced today a partnership with the Oneida Indian Nation that will bring the 2011 NLL All-Star Game to the Turning Stone Casino in February. The All-Star game will be broadcast live on VERSUS, as part of a deal between the network and the NLL that will bring nine games to a national TV audience.
The Oneida Indian Nation will serve as host and presenting sponsor for this year’s All-Star Game, which will take place at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York on February 27 at 2pm. Fans will have the chance to select the East and West Division All-Star game starters through a vote conducted at NLL.com. Six Washington Stealth players are on the ballot: forwards Rhys Duch and Lewis Ratcliff, transition player Paul Rabil, defenders Mike Grimes and Jeff Moleski and goaltender Matt Roik.
“We’re truly excited to form this new partnership with Turning Stone Casino and the Oneida Nation,” said NLL Commissioner George Daniel. “Bringing the All-Star Game to this great venue helps us connect with the roots of our sport.”
The NLL’s television deal with VERSUS will feature not only the All-Star game, but eight other regular season and playoff games, including the NLL Championship Game in May. IMG Worldwide, which represents the NLL in broadcast and sponsorship matters, negotiated the agreement on behalf of the league. The full broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
“We are very excited to announce this new partnership with the National Lacrosse League and to be able to televise this fast growing sport on one of the fastest growing sports cable networks in the country,” said Jeff Goldberg, Vice President of Programming for VERSUS.
