Three members of the Stanwood High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) have spent the last few months observing and learning about the inner-workings of a sports organization from the newest professional sports team in the Pacific Northwest, the Washington Stealth.  The Partnership with Business team, comprised of Rachel Rich, Marlee Raible and Kayla Nolte are in the midst of preparing a project on the professional indoor lacrosse team for a state competition in April.

The trio first contacted the Stealth about the project in December, expressing interest in featuring the Stealth in their Partnership with Business Project.  They have since observed a number of aspects involved in running a professional sports organization, including the game day operations and marketing and promotion efforts.

“We are honored and excited to help the Partnership with Business team with their project,” said Stealth Director of Communications Michael Kennett.  “They have been a pleasure to work with, they have a tremendous amount of determination and enthusiasm, and I’m sure their hard work will translate in their project.”

Rich, Raible and Nolte have interviewed a number of members of the Stealth front office staff, including Kennett and Stealth General Manager Doug Locker.  They have also witnessed numerous off-the-field activities in which the Stealth players take part, such as the Stealth Lacrosse Academy, where Stealth players teach indoor lacrosse to local youth players, and the Stealth’s weekly radio show, “Washington Stealth All-Access”.  On January 9, at the Stealth’s 2011 home opener at the Comcast Arena, the Partnership with Business team got a first-hand look at the Stealth’s game day operations.

This weekend, at the Stealth’s game at the Comcast Arena versus the Edmonton Rush, a group from the Stanwood FBLA will be in attendance to witness what the Partnership with Business team has been working on the past three months.  The group will also attend a pregame presentation on the various aspects of running a professional sports organization from members of the Stealth front office staff.

The deadline for the Partnership with Business Project is in March, with the team giving a 30-minute presentation complete with seven-minute video in April.  Stay tuned to www.stealthlax.com to see the video portion of the project and for progress reports on the Partnership with Business team.
