The East Division defeated the West Division 30-26 in a high-scoring affair at the 2011 National Lacrosse League All-Star game at the Turning Stone Casino Resort in Verona, NY today.  The Washington Stealth sent five players to the game, with each recording at least two points led by Luke Wiles with a team-high ten points for the West.

All-Star games are typically a forward’s dream and a goaltender’s nightmare, and the 2011 edition was no different as both the East and West Divisions found the net early and often.  In the first quarter alone as the teams combined for 14 goals, the East holding an 8-6 edge early on.  Stealth players were responsible for four of the West’s six goals, with Lewis Ratcliff scoring one and Wiles recording a first quarter hat-trick.

Wiles would add two more in the second quarter, making an early push for the game’s MVP nod. Ratcliff and Paul Rabil added a goal apiece in the quarter, the Stealth trio leading a West comeback as they tied the score at twelve going into halftime.

The scoring continued at a furious pace in the third, with the teams combining for 47 shots on goal and 16 goals.  Rabil opened the second half scoring just thirty seconds into the third frame.  The score was knotted at 20 after 45 minutes of play.

The East pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the West 10-6 in the final stanza.  Stealth forward Rhys Duch scored his only tally of the day in the fourth and Wiles completed his sock-trick with the final goal of the game.  The big fourth quarter from the East gave them the 30-26 victory.

Wiles finished with six goals and four assists to lead the West.  Rabil tallied a pair of goals and three assists for five points and grabbed 18 loose balls.  He leads the NLL with 98 loose balls in regular season play.  Ratcliff finished with two goals and two assists and Duch had a goal and three assists to go along with a game-high 19 loose balls.  Stealth defenseman and West Division starter Mike Grimes added a pair of assists.

Stealth Head Coach Chris Hall served as the Head Coach of the West Division All-Stars, appearing in his fourth NLL All-Star Game as a coach.
