The National Lacrosse League announced its weekly award winners for the final week of the 2012 regular season today, naming Stealth forward Lewis Ratcliff the Offensive Player of the Week. Ratcliff tallied seven goals and four assists in the Stealth’s season finale on April 28 against the Buffalo Bandits.
Ratcliff, who just completed his tenth NLL season, posted season highs with seven goals and eleven points last weekend. His seven goals were also the most scored by a player in the NLL this season.
The left-handed forward scored four of his seven goals in the first half against the Bandits, helping the Stealth get back into the game after a 4-0 deficit early in the first quarter. His seventh goal of the game capped a five-goal Stealth run and tied the score at 16 with just 1:39 left in regulation. The Stealth lost 17-16 in overtime; it was the fifth longest game in NLL history.
Ratcliff finished the 2012 season with a team-high 36 goals and finished second on the Stealth with 40 assists and 76 points in 16 games. Earlier this season, he became the 9th player in NLL history to tally 800 points and the 10th to reach the 350-goal plateau.
