Rhys Duch continues to score goals

Rhys Duch has had a very successful Western Lacrosse Association season with the Victoria Shamrocks and with the final series starting Wednesday (August 14), he will be looking to lead his team to a Mann Cup Title.

Duch has been one of the most dominant scorers for the Stealth organization since he was drafted third overall, in the 2008 Entry Draft. His rookie season with the Stealth was in 2009 where he played in all 16 games and grabbed a remarkable 35 goals and 54 assists. He set a new rookie record for points in a single season and also earned Rookie of the Year honors.

In 2010 Duch took home the Champion’s Cup as he helped the Stealth earn their first ever National Lacrosse League title. Duch was able to contribute with some big numbers, scoring 25 points in only 3 playoff games.

This past season with the Stealth he led the team in points with 96, which was good enough for third overall, in the NLL. He was also the league leader for goals, with 45.

Duch has played a total of 89 regular season and playoff games with the Stealth since 2009 and has racked up some very impressive numbers. He has 218 goals and 287 assists in just 5 seasons with the Stealth and has only missed 2 games of action during his entire NLL career.

The 2013 WLA season is where Duch has continued his scoring prowess, as he managed to score 14 goals and 17 assists in just 7 games with his hometown team of Victoria. Duch may have gotten off to a late start in the WLA season, but he has sustained his strong play in the playoffs collecting 15 points, in the Shamrocks 4 game sweep of the Burnaby Lakers.

The attention for Duch now turns to WLA final, as his Shamrocks take on the Langley Thunder in what should be a close contested series. Game 1 of the series goes Wednesday (August 14) at the Langley Events Centre, game time is 7:45pm.
