Vancouver, BC – The 2013 BC Sports Hall of Fame Banquet of Champions was held last night at the Vancouver Convention Centre, as lacrosse legend and the Stealth’s Director of Player Development Kevin Alexander was inducted into the Athletes Hall.

“You’re in a special place with a lot of special people, so it’s pretty honourable” said Alexander.

Alexander will enter the Athletes Hall, as he left quite a mark on the game of lacrosse, especially when it comes to the stats column. He netted 797 goals and 584 assists in only 300 career games including the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) regular season, playoffs and the Mann Cup. Alexander also led the Victoria Shamrocks to two Mann Cup Championships in 1979 and 1983. He even had two championship seasons with the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) where he grabbed 47 goals and 14 assists in just 19 games.

The Victoria native remained humble throughout the ceremony even when he received numerous recognitions from fellow inductees before him,

“Its kind of funny actually my kid said the same thing,” Alexander laughed.

“It’s definitely a mutual respect among athletes.”

Alexander’s lacrosse career often gets Gretzky-like respect among his peers as Thursday night added another storied chapter to his achievements.

When it came time for Alexander to speak his emotions came out as the idea of being inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame was finally sinking in. Alexander credits a number of friends and family who helped him along during his career, including Stealth Head Coach Chris Hall.

Back in 1991 Alexander was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame (CLHF) and this year he enters the 2013 BC Sports Hall of Fame to be recognized among all sports.

Congratulations to Kevin Alexander and to the entire 2013 BC Sports Hall of Fame inductees.
