Stealth lock up Iannucci for another year

(Vancouver, BC – Tuesday, November 26, 2013) – The Vancouver Stealth announced that they have re-signed local goal scorer Athan Iannucci for another season, pending league approval. Iannucci is entering his 7th season in the NLL and 3rd season with the Stealth. In 6 seasons in the NLL Iannucci has appeared in 83 regular season and playoff games.

"Athan has worked extremely hard this off season to get ready for 2014, and we believe he is poised for a terrific season.  He has gotten bigger and stronger which will make him very tough for opposing defenses to deal with,” said President and General Manager, Doug Locker.

Iannucci came to the Stealth in 2012 and couldn’t be happier about the opportunity to stay with the club,

“Playing for the Stealth is a dream come true,” said Iannucci.

“Denise is the most professional and generous owner in the league. I mean she really treats our team right. It has without a doubt been the happiest move of my lacrosse career.”

Iannucci finished third on the Stealth in scoring last season as he scored 20 plus goals for a 6th consecutive year. In 79 regular season games Iannucci has 196 goals, with his most impressive goal scoring year back in 2008 where he scored 71 goals, which is still a NLL single season record.

When it comes time to score goals this season, Iannucci will get to do it in an arena that has become like a second home,

“It has been fantastic living so close the last three summers playing for the Langley Thunder. Now with the Stealth here too, I get to compete in the same arena year round. That definitely adds to the home floor advantage-type-feel,” said Iannucci, who now lives only a few kilometers from the LEC.

“The Langley Events Centre is the nicest facility I've had the privilege to call home; we are all quite fortunate to be here and we’re grateful to all the LEC Staff who treat us so well.”

Iannucci and the rest of his Stealth teammates will begin the 2014 season in their new home come January. The Stealth will start the 2014 season on the road in Colorado on January 4th followed by their home opener at the Langley Events Centre on January 11th against the Minnesota Swarm.
