(Vancouver, BC – Tuesday, November 26, 2013) – The Vancouver Stealth announced that they have locked up another top scorer for next season as Lewis Ratcliff re-signs for two more years, pending league approval. Ratcliff is entering his 12th season in the NLL and 5th season with the Stealth. During his 11 year career Ratcliff has appeared in 191 regular season and playoff games.
"Lewis has a professional résumé that speaks for itself. He is one of the best shooters in the game and has been for the majority of his career,” said President and General Manager, Doug Locker.
“He is extremely focused on the coming year and we are looking for big things from him this year."
Ratcliff has spent some very successful years with the Stealth and is excited to bring even more to Vancouver for the next two years,
“It’s been a great 4 years so far and I had no interest in playing anywhere else. I am looking forward to the next few years here,” said Ratcliff.
Ratcliff has been a proven scorer throughout his career and sits 4th on the all-time goal scoring list with 411 goals and 9th all-time in points with 889 (411g, 478a). Since joining the Stealth in 2010 the goal scoring trend has continued in a big way. The Victoria, BC native scored 46 goals in his first season with the Stealth and helped lead them to their first Champions Cup. Ratcliff scored 5 goals and an assist in the final game and was undoubtedly named the Champions Cup Finals MVP.
Ratcliff now has an opportunity to bring a title home to Vancouver for friends and family which is something he’s very excited about,
“It’s something I’ve never really had the chance to do, it’s still a ferry ride away but it’s still pretty close for everyone,” said Ratcliff.
“Playing in front of friends and family will be pretty cool. I’ve only ever played as a visitor in Vancouver so I am pretty excited.”
Last year was another solid year for Ratcliff as he added another 31 goals and 36 assists to his regular season career point totals. The 11 year veteran is hoping to continue adding to his point totals but more importantly he wants to help the team win,
“Anything other than a championship would be a disappointment, although we understand how good the league is and it’s not a given that you even make playoffs,” said Ratcliff.
“But we have a good veteran team here that’s won before, so the ultimate goal for the group is to win the Championship.”
The Stealth will begin the 2014 season on the road in Colorado on January 4th followed by their home opener at the Langley Events Centre on January 11th against the Minnesota Swarm.
