Joe Romano is entering his seventh season with the Stealth organization and his third as a scout. Romano has 16 years of lacrosse experience as a player and a coach, including four seasons as an assistant coach for the Stealth from its San Jose years through the 2010 NLL championship season in Washington state.
As a scout for the Stealth, Romano is responsible for accessing the talent pool of players participating in NCAA competition in the United States. He gathers statistics and film of players anticipated to make the transition into the NLL from the field game.
After playing lacrosse in high school in Media, Pa., Romano went on to play for four years at Whittier College under the direction of current Stealth President & General Manager Doug Locker. He was named the Poets’ Defensive Player of the Year as a midfielder his sophomore year and was a two-time captain of the team. After graduating in 2000, he became an assistant coach at Whittier and helped lead the Poets to a quarterfinal berth in the NCAA Division III Championships. He then started the lacrosse program at NCAA Division II Notre Dame de Namur University, where he served as the Head Coach for four seasons. He also spent one season as an assistant coach for Major League Lacrosse’s San Francisco Dragons. Romano is currently the head boys lacrosse coach at Bellarmine College Preparatory school in San Jose, Calif.
